Coach Mac Shout Out of the Week: Thank you — Celebrating Chris and Tessie Rideaux

*Community Strong*

Dear Chris and Tessie,

Since moving here, I’ve come to see how special this community is. Hearing stories from longtime residents about how the school and town used to be closely connected made me want to help rebuild that relationship. When neighbors and business owners began asking why I was cutting the grass, my answer was simple: our kids deserve a clean campus and a principal who will work tirelessly for them.

Meeting you both changed everything. Your vision for the Alumni Club and your commitment to reconnecting the community with the school have been the catalyst for real change. Together, we’ve reached out to the mayor, J&K Collision, Bourque’s Supermarket, and town committees — and those partnerships went from diminishing to rebuilding and rebuilding. You both work full-time jobs, raise three kids, and still give so much time and energy to our school. That kind of dedication is the definition of “Community Strong.”

Because of your efforts, we’ve seen firefighters and police visit campus regularly, improved town partnerships, and more support for our sports teams. I haven’t missed an alumni event to raise funds for our kids since we started this work together.

Coach Mac’s Shout Out of the Week goes to you both. Thank you for everything you do for our school — we are truly grateful to have you in our school family.

With gratitude,

Coach Mac

Dear Families, I hope you and your loved ones are well. At Port Barre Middle/High School, we are committed to creating a learning environment where every child thrives — academically, socially, and emotionally. To do that, we need your honest feedback. I am including a brief survey asking about your experiences with our school — what’s working, what could be better, and where we should focus our efforts next. Your insights will directly shape our planning and priorities, from classroom supports, and family engagement to school culture and student services. Why your voice matters Your perspective helps us identify strengths to build on and areas that need attention. The survey is anonymous, so you can be candid. Results guide real decisions about programs, resources, and supports for our students. Quick details Length: About 3-5 minutes Deadline: Please complete the survey by 2/6/26. How to access: https://tinyurl.com/2526PBHSParentSurvey Need help or prefer a paper copy? If you’d like a paper version, need the survey in another language, or want assistance completing it, please contact Coach Lavergne at 337-585-7256 or tlavergne@slpsb.org. We’re happy to help. Thank you for partnering with us. Your participation makes a meaningful difference for our students and our school community. With appreciation, Coach Lavergne Assistant Principal
